ABOUT ME
Hi, my name is Armani Canty from Cottageville, South Carolina. Over the past few years, I have been studying professional writing at Lander University. I am an aspiring public relations professional who is ready to enter the work force!
My Time Studying Abroad in Winchester, England!
From January 2026 to April 2026, I studied abroad in Winchester, England as part of a program sponsored by Lander University. Studying abroad gave me the opportunity to pursue unfamiliar avenues, improving my comfortability with unfamiliar environments. I took in creative non-fiction, popular music culture, and politics and journalism. As a writer, I fortified my transferrable writing skills to better prepare me for different writing audiences and environments.
One of the most important things I learned while studying abroad was about my own global perspective. Communicating with people from different backgrounds and countries highlighted my pre-existing appreciation for other cultures as I continued to learn. The ability to be self-sufficient and deal with unpredictability is easily transferrable into the work force as I navigate new team members and handle project management.
My Time at Lander University!
Lander University has greatly influenced my academic growth to effectively prepare me for the workforce. While earning my Bachelor's Degree in Professional Writing, I actively engaged in numerous on-campus leadership roles. These roles allowed me to sharpen my public speaking, prioritize time management and multi-tasking, and transfer my writing skills to real-world settings. Additionally, I balanced two off-campus retail jobs as well as developing personal research projects over the last two years.
My on-campus roles such as Presidential Ambassador and Executive Chair of the Honors College Leadership Council allowed me to improve my in-person communication skills and work on delegation within an organization. To further fine tune my writing skills, I worked as a Writing Lab Tutor as well as an Editorial Assistant in Lander's Marketing and Communication Office. Both of these jobs allowed me to refine my editing and writing skills by paying attention to details in other students' writing and practice the feature writing process from start to finish.
